Mikooka Projects is a New York-based production company founded by Mika Orr, an award-winning filmmaker working as a writer, director, and producer of fiction and documentary projects. Her work explores the intersections of identity, migration, fantasy, and intercultural convergence.
Mika founded Mikooka Productions in 2008, creating hundreds of branded content pieces for clients such as Google, Coca-Cola, and Yad Vashem, as well as live shows and music videos for artists including Nouvelle Vague, Yemen Blues, and Andy Farber’s Big Band. In 2019, she opened the company’s New York branch, where she now focuses on her own original work.
Her recent projects include the award-winning short films Professional Cuddler and Duet, and the documentary/animation web series #AMiNORMAL, which premiered at IDFA and was broadcast on ARTE. She is currently completing a vérité feature documentary following the lives of three displaced girls in Uganda, Colombia, and Germany, and is in development on two feature films.
